So if I buy an element grill at Wantist do you guys get affiliate pay?

I love your site look. Very clean and pleasing to the eye, but I didn’t even know what you sold – or even that you sold anything – until I clicked on your archives tab. Maybe you ought to rename it catalog or something like that. Anyway, I’m curious how you make money, and how you chose your product line.

  1. @RJ: Thanks for the kind words.

Affiliate relationships are one source of revenue for us, however monetization isn’t our highest priority right now. We’re focusing on rolling out new features and content to shape Wantist into something interesting and useful. We’ve got a collection of ideas on how to generate revenue that we’ll implement when appropriate.

Just to be clear, none of our editorial is influenced by affiliate relationships. We only write about what we like and think is interesting. If the merchant has an affiliate program set up, then we’ll take advantage of it, but it doesn’t influence our focus.

In the future we might roll out sponsored dispatches, but they will be clearly marked as such and any behind-the-scenes business relationship disclosed.

As for the Element Grill specifically; Fuego does not have an affiliate program, so the primary call-to-action at the bottom of the content (“Heat up things in your backyard…”) does not generate any revenue for us. The secondary link does generate revenue via Amazon’s affiliate program.
